FNOOB DiGiTAL presents Chicago Beats, a new compilation of no-nonsense, straight-ahead 4/4 techno from seven of Chicago's finest underground producers.

This compilation begins intensely with 'Latenight on 290' by DJ Amar, with its snappy bass kick and punchy synth. Slightly more ominous, dark and discordant sounding is 'Unicorn' by Drew Sky of Chicago Techno Brigade, with assistance from Taigo Onez, a frequent collaborator with Lester Fitzpatrick, also of CTB. Jerome Baker then follows with a spacious, echo filled entry with throbbing bass on his track, 'Ticket Day'.

The sound shifts to a funkier ghettotech exercise in chordal stabs, claps and “jack that big booty” vocal sample in Josh Moseley’s “DigDug”. This is followed by “Starlight”, a surprisingly trippy endeavor awash in echo, reverb, oscillator sweeps and electric piano with just a taste of house flavor from Lester Fitzpatrick. The sound resumes with a more sober drum machine and bass synth feel when Taigo Onez returns with “Faces”. Tim Vitek finishes the compilation with “Fighting Lines”, a sunrise track with slippery, melodic acid, synth chords, and claps on the 2 and 4.
